T499.  Iron sukashi tsuba that I believe to be Higo: window and paulownia.  7.8 x 8.5 x .4 cm.  The nakago hitsu-ana is .9 x 2.8 cm.  This is a design that was used by more than one of the groups, smiths of Higo (I’ve included pictures from Mr. Ito’s books on the Higo masters).  I can’t tell you which was responsible for this tsuba but given the quality and condition I see no reason to doubt that it is Higo in origin.  There is a nice, soft patina: quite elegant.  $665.
