T240. Iron tsuba signed Kaneie Saku. 8.1 x 8.4 x .5 cm. The nakago hitsu-ana is .8 x 2.6 cm. There is one very small sukashi, punch work and carving, subtle tekkotsu on the rim, silver & brass ten zogan and very fine copper inlay. Not sure what the design is (anyone out there know?) but it puts me in mind of Buddhist symbolism. A tiny bit of the fine copper is missing.
This tsuba comes with a paper, issued in Japan in 2014, by the NTHK-NPO. The paper says “Kaneiye Saku” and “Edo Shoki” (early Edo). Comes also with a box with pillow. The label on the box says “Kaneiye Saku” and “3 Kanji Mei”.
Condition is excellent. $300. (Heck, the paper probably cost nearly that much.)
