T174.  Iron tsuba signed Hagi no Ju Kawaji Saku.  7 x 7.2 x .6 cm.  Kawaji is # 02969.0 in Robert Haynes Index.  The theme is the mythical Ho bird and it is done wonderfully well.  There is amazing detail in the carving and condition is perfect; this is one the best Choshu tsubas I’ve seen.  $650.
