Q779. Iron sukashi tsuba. 7.1 x 7.5 x .3 cm (thin plate). The nakago hitsu-ana is .8 x 2.7 cm. With just a mast, some ropes, part of a sail, and an anchor, this tsuba tells us what we need to know: a ship at sea. The top of the mast, the sail, and parts of the anchor are nunome zogan gold inlay; pretty much all of this gold is intact. The rim also is Gold nunome and some of this gold is missing.
