Q774. Namban tsuba. 6.8 x 7.1 x .4 cm. The nakago hisu-ana is .8 x 2.6 cm. The shippo sukashi on this one is not what I expect from Namban; intertwined and undercut tendrils are usually seen. Also, there is no gold nunome zogan on the dragons or flaming jewel; another point of difference. Yet the seppa-dai is ornamented like Namban and the design is certainly standard Namban fare. Maybe this is some sort of transition piece. Condition is excellent. $325.
