Q156.  Iron sukashi tsuba signed Choshu Hagi no Ju Sakunoshin Tomohisa.  7 x 7.2 x .5 cm.  The nakago hitsu-ana is .75 x 2.5 cm.  This is intricately carved in flowers and leaves, the ryo-hitsu are plugged with gold caps, and the seme-gane at the top & bottom of the nakago hitsu are of silver rather than the usual copper (sets off the blue black iron of good Choshu tsuba nicely).  Tomohisa was no slouch; his work is found in Nihonto Koza and The Boston Museum book, among others.  This is a very nice tsuba in excellent condition.  $425.
