M223.  A true daisho tsuba, mumei, given to Mito.  The dai is 7.2 x 7.8 x .45 cm.  The nakago hitsu-ana is .7 x 2.7 cm.  The sho is 6.5 x 7.3 x .4 cm.  Its nakago hitsu-ana is .7 x 2.5 cm.  Iron with gold inlay, incredible carving with the tiniest of detail, all in immaculate condition and mounted in a daisho box with pillows.  This comes with a Tokubetsu Kicho paper from the NBTHK, dated 1972.  Alan Harvie was the collector who got the paper.  For those of you who didn’t know Alan, he was a scholar and a gentleman; he knew tsuba and he didn’t collect just anything.  This is a fine set at a very reasonable price; it shouldn’t be here long.  $995.
