H377.  Iron sukashi tsuba.  7.4 x 7.6 x .5 cm.  The nakago hitsu-ana is .8 x 2.9 cm.  From the Holbrook collection; Skip’s tag reads, “Higo Jingo School”.  Dragon flies appear quite often on kodogu; this is one of the nicer depictions I’ve seen.  The iron feels heavy & dense but fine cross-hatching on the insects makes them look grainier than the actually are.  Excellent condition.  $645.
