C316. Hizen sukashi tsuba that needs help. 7.9 x 8 x .4 cm at the raised rim. The nakago hitsu-ana is .8 x 2.7 cm. A star burst sukashi with raised kanji on the plate. On one side the kanji are covered in gold nunome. This used to be a very interesting tsuba and, with a bit of work, it can be again. The iron surface is covered in a light, red rust. There is no pitting so this should clean up nicely with an old ivory piano key and some number of hours of elbow grease. Need a project? A bit of time and care: you’ll be well rewarded. $150.
