Ubu, 1 mekugi-ana. Fine and tight ko itame hada. The hamon is regular, gunome of round choji, nioi guchi covered in fine ko-nie. In places the heads of the gunome/choji are connected with sunagashi/kinsuji. The boshi is midare ending in chu-maru with a short kaeri. The blade is in polish and, other than for a couple instances of slightly prominent hada, there are no kizu to warn you of. Mounted in a well made shira-saya that is in excellent condition and with a copper habaki.
This blade comes with koshirae. The tsuba is iron sukashi of a dragonfly (7.1 x 7.3 x .25 cm). The fuchi kashira are shakudo with gold, quite nicely carved with a samurai battle scene. The menuki appear to be arranged flowers. The tsuka ito is intact but a bit loose (no idea why). The saya is black lacquer, ribbed at the top, and in excellent condition. There is a pocket for a kotsuka/kogatana but none come with the koshirae.
2 pounds, 14 ounces. $1,750.
