T447.  Large Shingen tsuba.  8.6 x 8.8 x .4 cm at the rim.  The nakago hitsu-ana is .8 x 2.9 cm.  The story that goes with Shingen tsuba is that a feudal Daimyo took up a hobby: adding soft metal wire ornamentation to iron tsuba, and that started a trend.  I can’t say if the brass and shakudo wires were added to this tsuba or if it was made this way but i can tell you that it is well done (no wire is missing) and presents quite boldly.  Condition is excellent.  $320.
