T444. Iron Tsuba with Dragonflies. Paper to Jingo
$1,200.00
T444. Dragonfly tsuba. 7.2 x 7.9 x .4 cm. The nakago hitsu-ana is .95 x 2.8 cm. I really like this tsuba; I think it’s special. The dragonflies are done in silver nunome and most of the silver has been intentionally worn away. Silver nunome geometric pattern on the rim, again mostly missing on purpose. There is a fine brass border all along the rim on the back and half way around the rim on the front (meant to be that way). Condition is perfect and the carving is wonderful. This comes in a mediocre box with pillow and with a hozon paper dated 2016 from the NBTHK giving it to Kodai Jingo (later generation). Whichever of the Shimizu Jingo artists made this tsuba, I bet he felt proud when he finished. $1,200.
