T406.  A signed Jakushi tsuba, iron with gold nunome.  6 x 6.5 x .45 cm.  The nakago hitsu-ana is .8 x 2.3 cm.  The tsuba artist Jakushi studied Chinese painting and incorporated that art into his work; he was fond of dragons.  This tsuba, in excelent condition, comes in a custom fitted box with hako-gaki by Kawaguchi Noboru, the author of Tsuba Taikan (see B667) and other books on the subject.  It reads, “Nagasaki Jakushi.  Tetsu unryu tsuba.  Tetsu-ji maru gata kaku mimi unryu nikubori kin nunome zogan.  Mei: Jakushi.  Showa san ju shichi nen shichi gatsu (July of 1962), Kawaguchi Noboru, with a seal”  Quite nice; I think you’ll be pleased.  $500.
