T273.  Iron tsuba signed on one side, Goshu Hikone no Ju, and on the other, Soheishi Nyudo Soten Sei.  6.4 x 6.4 cm across the flats, 7.6 cm on the diagonal.  The plate is .5 cm and at its thickest (at the rim) the tsuba is 1.3 cm.  The nakago hitsu-ana is .8 x 2.7 cm.  Not sure I’ve ever seen a tsuba made this way before; looks like the rim was split and folded both ways.  There is gold and silver inlay (the gold of one bird is missing) and well done carving.  Soten is a very big name and I’m assuming this to be school work or gimei.  If you send it to shinsa and prove me wrong I will refund all of the purchase price upon return.  $275.
