T255.  Iron sukashi tsuba with gold inlay signed, Yamashiro Kuni Ju Umetada Mitsushige.  8 x 8 x .4 cm at the rim (thicker at the seppa-dai).  The nakago hitsu-ana is .9 x 2.9 cm.  Robert Haynes, in his Index, lists Umetada Mitsushige as having died in 1781.  A large, heavy, impressive tsuba in excellent condition; I believe all of the gold remains.  $375.
