T153.  Iron sukashi tsuba with the theme of Musashino.  6.7 x 6.8 x .6 cm.  The nakago hitsu-ana measures .75 x 2.6 cm.  The tsuba is signed, “Choshu Ju Masashige (I think).”  This doesn’t look like a Choshu tsuba to me but what do I know.  Thicker than usual plate with prominent tekkotsu on the rim.  Musashino is the plains of Musashi Province, after a battle.  Dew on the grass and a fallen abumi (stirrup) to remind us of the cost of war.  Condition is excellent.  $225.
