Q861. Iron tsuba. 7.5 x 7.5 x .4 cm on the plate (the rim is as much as .9 cm thick). The nakago hitsu-ana is .9 x 2.9 cm. One awesome dragon wraps his way around this tsuba. He largely inhabits the front side, with waves & flowing water and silver ten zogan droplets. The back side is mostly water, although a leg with claws shows prominently. The eyes of the dragon are atypically done. They appear to be domed soft metal plates with holes in the centers for irises. The carving is 1st rate and condition is excellent. Another fine piece.
