Q581.  Namban tsuba.  7.2 x 7.7 x .4 cm.  The nakago hitsu-ana is.75 x 2.8 cm. At 1st glance this is standard fare for Namban but closer examination shows differences.  There are no dragons intertwined with all the swirling hubbub, the hubbub surrounds the ryo-hitsu, separating them from the seppa-dai, the tiny ball inside the jewell at top is loose inside its recess, and the patina is lighter than all the others I have seen.  I don’t think the light patina is from improper cleaning, as it covers all the inner surfaces that couldn’t easily be cleaned; I think it is intentional.  Condition is excellent.  $275.
