Q172.  Shi Shi menuki in a fitted box with pillow.  The menuki are about 2 cm long and 1.8 cm tall each.  Shakudo covered with gold uttori.  It appears that some of the gold has been lost on high spots that would have been under the wrap but the majority of it is here.  The detail of these menuki is quite amazing; the closer you look the more you see (afraid my feeble photography skills don’t do justice).  These seem old to me.  The box is uusually small: 7.5 x 11 cm, and sets off the menuki much nicer than would a usual size, larger box.  This one is nice.  $450.
