Q170.  San Mai (3 layer) soft metal tsuba.  7.1 x 7.2 x .3 cm.  The nakago hitsu-ana is .7 x 2.8 cm.  Pretty sure I have the san mai thing correct.  Normally with the 3 layer tsuba the thin top and bottom plates are a bit loose at the hitsu and there is a fukurin to hold them together at the rim.  On this tsuba there is no loose edge and no fukurin or evidence that the plates were joined around the rim.  But the top and bottom plates are identical and do show as different from the copper core at the hitsu.  Perhaps this is how they are supposed to be.  There is a shallow notch at the bottom of the rim so maybe this tsuba once did have a fukurin.  Whatever it is, there is a dragon with gold accents in rough water.  Condition is excellent.  $175.
