M255. Iron Tsuba with Gold, Higo I Believe

M255.  Iron sukashi tsuba with gold inlay.  7.2 x 7.4 x .45 cm.  The nakago hitsu-ana is .8 x 2.6 cm.  I can’t say for certain which group of smiths is responsible, but this speaks very strongly of someone not too far from Higo Rakuju, who came out of the Hayashi and Kamiyoshi tradition.  Condition is excellent; there is no evidence that any of the gold is missing.  I need to take better pictures of this one; the current batch do it no favor.  The iron is a deep black, soft patina, much nicer that what the pictures show.  Was $995, now $775.
