K269. Most Unusual Iron Tsuba
$245.00
K269. If a tea ceremony potter made a tsuba, maybe it would look something like this one. Pretty much everything about this piece is unexpected. The carving seems crude, the plugged ryo-hitsu is off and may not even be a real hitsu but rather just carving in the iron plate, the seppa-dai is misshapen, and the large raised rim is not the least bit uniform. 2 randomly placed dots of gold complete the theme. And it all seems surprisingly fun. This, like some other tsuba from the storehouse box of 108, suffered surface rust. Most of it has been removed but the tsuba would benefit from further fussing. $245
