J123. Dragon Gate Tsuba, Japanese Copy of Qing

J123. The owner of this consigned tsuba thinks it is a Japanese copy of a Qing design, possibly by someone in the Onitake School of Nagasaki. 7 x 7.4 x .5 cm. The nakago hitsu-ana is.7 x 2.5 cm. The kotsuka hitsu-ana is a separate piece set in to the plate and this was purpose done, nothing was cut away to accomodate it. Gilt numome details around, including the rim of the kotsuka ana, dragons and a pagoda, all in fine carving and under cutting, and in great condition.
