H384.  Iron plate tsuba with extensive inlay.  7.7 x 8.3 x .4 cm.  The nakago hitsu-ana is.7 x 2.7 cm.  A Holbrook tsuba; Skip says, “Pine Needles Gold & Copper True Inlay, Momoyama Period”.  By true inlay, Skip is remarking on the fact that this isn’t nunome inlay, where soft metal is hammered onto a cross-hatched surface, but rather the process is very fine wires being set into incredibly fine cuts: an amazing amount of effort.  There are bold tekkotsu and possibly a sword cut on the rim; little of the inlay is lost.  $395.
