C315. Iron sukashi tsuba with extensive soft metal overlay. 7.7 x 8.1 x .4 cm on the plate. The nakago hitsu-ana is .9 x 2.9 cm. The sukashi are gourds and they have been filled with shibuichi. The cherry blossoms sit proud of the plate and are made of shakudo, gold, & silver. This is an unusual shape for a tsuba: a 3 lobed maru gata. Robert Haynes has seen this one; he thinks it may be Mito or Shonai work. Condition is excellent. $375.
