C312. Brass Tsuba with Gold Inlay, Ko-Umetada?

$195.00

C312. Brass tsuba with gold inlay. 7.1 x 7.5 x .35 cm. The nakago hitsu-ana is .8 x 2.8 cm. The theme is a peony and there is gold inlay of hoo birds. The former owner believes this to be Ko-Umetada work, mostly by a process of eliminating other possibilities, and if correct this would be important. However, we think there used to be a diamond shape which is partially missing in the round sukashi and someone has cleaned one side a bit too aggressively; thus the reduced price. You might consider having this one restored.
I had a heck of a time trying to capture the true color in my photos. The 3rd picture, of the tsuba at an angle, comes closest. There is a scratch on the cleaned side and some of the gold inlay is gone. $195.
