C306. Iron, yatsu moko gata tsuba: Onin. 6.8 x 7 x .23 cm. The nakago hitsu-ana is .7 x 2.5 cm. There are 3 rows of brass ten zogan and a brass ring, which appears to have been formed of cut arcs rather than a one piece wire bent to fit its recess. The plate is thin, as would be expected with Onin, and there are sparse remnants of lacquer on the plate. A former owner dates this to Muromachi; he knows more than I do so I’ll go with that.
A few of the ten zogan are missing but not to many for the age. Otherwise condition is excellent. $495
