C144.  Iron sukashi tsuba signed, “Soeishi Nyudo Soten Sei Goshu Hikone no Ju.”  7.4 x 7.8 x .4 cm at the rim (thicker elsewhere).  This tsuba is most likely not by Soten himself, but of all the school work that followed, this is much better than average.  I count 3 scholarly looking gentlemen, sages I suppose, standing among flowers and trees and clouds, all worked in high relief carving and picked out in gold.  Condition is excellent.  This tsuba comes with a box.  $550.
