C227. Fuchi Kashira in silver. The fuchi is 1.9 x 3.4 cm inside dimensions and the kashira is 1.35 x 3.1 cm also inside. The set comes in a fitted box with pillow and Hozon paper from the NBTHK, dated 2011 and giving it to Ko Mino. What is fascinating about this set is that it has been rebuilt. Most likely, in the original condition, it was fragile. Both pieces have been altered, the fuchi with a newer base plate and inner sleeve and the kashira with an inner sleeve. Someone must have valued this highly to have made the effort and close examination of the work leaves little doubt why: it is incredible. Silver isn’t often encountered except as an accent metal; this set is all silver. And work of this quality is uncommon also. Condition is excellent. $1,200.
