Q890. Jumonji Yari with Paper to Bitchu Mizuta Kunishige

$1,595.00

Q890. Mumei (unsigned) jumonji yari.

Length of central spike from tip to where the pole would be: 6 1/2″ 16.7 cm.

Width across the horizontal spikes: 4 3/4″ 12.1 cm.

Nakago nagasa: 14 1/2″ 36.8 cm.

Overall length: 21 1/4″ 53.5 cm.

This yari is not in polish but it isn’t far out of polish. Not much of the hada is visible (masame, of course); much of the suguba hamon is visible. My pictures show every inch of both sides. There are a couple small chips in the edge and a few barely felt fingernail catchers. There is no koshirae: bare blade only.

This comes with a paper from the NTHK, dated 2001 and giving it to Den Musashi no Kuni Minamoto Kunishige. On the 2nd page of the paper it mentions Yamashiro Daijo Kunishige, one of the leading lights of the Bitchu Mizuta School. His active period was the 2nd half of the 17th century. Either way, this comes out Bitchu Mizuta.

Not much more to tell you. You’ll have to buy it and figure it all out for yourself. 1 pound. $1,595.
