Shinogi zukuri, koshi zori, chu kissaki, iore mune. The hada is ko mokume ko itame and flawless. The hamon is variations of choji midare with a bright and clear nioi guchi covered in ko-nie. The boshi is suguba ending in chu-maru with a short kaeri. There are hori-mono on both sides: bo hi ni soe bi. The blade is in polish and mounted with a well made silver foil habaki and in better quality shira-saya.
Totomi no Kami Kanehiro was the son of Yamato no Kami Kanehiro. Yoshisumi, who also signed Hiroto, was the 2nd son of 1st Hizen Masahiro, who was the 2nd son of Hizen Tadahiro, making Yoshisumi the grandson of the school’s founder. These 2 smiths often worked together, judging by the number of ga-saku (joint work) swords I found with a quick internet search for either of them.
This sword comes with 2 papers: NTHK dated 1994 (the envelope of this paper has been torn and taped; the paper is fine) and Tokubetsu Hozon from the NBTHK, also dated 1994. There is an awful lot to love here; I think you’ll be pleased. 2 pounds, 2 ounces. $3,950.
