B758. Nihon Toko Jiten: Koto & Shinto with full translations

B758.  Nihon Toko Jiten by Fujishiro, with full translation.  Hardbound with slipcases, 6 ¼ x 9 ¾”.  2 volumes in Japanese: Koto Hen, 619 pages; Shinto Hen, 492 pages.  Both Japanese volumes have stapled Tables of Contents in English.  This is the first book you reach for when researching a sword.  Close to 1,000 of the top smiths ever are presented with sharp oshigata, typical signatures, information about the work, dates, provinces, relative rankings, and more.

The English translations were published by Harry Watson.  Hardbound, 8 1/2x 11”, 330 and 295 pages, both inscribed to former owners by Harry.  A 100% translation with glossaries and 3 indexes in each volume.  A limited number of the translations were printed and they won’t be reprinted; they’ve always been difficult to find.

I also currently have the Japanese volumes without translation: B738.  Need only the translations?  I can do that; see B1067.

All 4 volumes are in excellent condition. 11 pounds, 13 ounces.  $850.
