B1038.  Shinto Oshigata Meishu Roku.  Traditional string binding with a slip case, 6 1/2 x 9 1/4″, in Japanese.  This one is most unusual; it has to be handmade and one of a kind.  Whoever made this book (I can find nothing that looks like a signature or author) must have started with a store bought blank book and then set off to fill it with oshigata of swords from the Shinto period.  He got 1/3 to 1/2 way through before he stopped; maybe 70 oshigata in all.  Most of the oshigata are very nicely done and some of them are exquisite; a few fold out as full length oshigata.  Some very important swordsmiths are represented.

The slipcase is in rough condition and would benefit from a careful repair.  The book is in great condition.  10 ounces.  $50.
