C171.  Natsuo Taikan by Miyake.  1990.  Clothbound with slipcase, 10 1/4 x 15″, 397 pages in Japanese, from a limited edition.  Kano Natsuo (1828 – 1898) was the most famous kodogu artist of the end of the Edo period: the last great master.  The complete Taikan is 8 volumes; I am offering only one volume.  The other volumes contain documents, drawings, and other aspects of Natsuo’s work.  This is the volume that shows in beautifully clear color photography the wonderful art.  Each piece typically is shown in 4 photos over 2 pages: front and back both life size and enlarged, and there are photos on nearly every page of the book.  Huge, wonderful, magnificent book.

Other than very minor shelf wear on the slipcase and a barely bumped corner, the book is in excellent condition.  10 pounds,  $500.
