Q118.  Kinko (soft metal) tsuba: tiger in bamboo.  6.4 x 6.8 x .37 cm.  The nakago hitsu-ana is .7 x 2.4 cm.  I think the base metal here is brass and If I’m correct this is among the nicest brass tsuba I’ve seen.  The tiger is worked in shakudo, the bamboo stalk is gilt on copper maye, and there are gold and shakudo leaves.  Must be a windy day, what with the swirls carved into the plate front and back.  There are a few spots of corrosion on the back (they look worse in my pictures than in hand); otherwise condition is fine.  This comes in a fitted box.  $445.
