M218.  Iron tsuba with extensive inlay, signed but unreadable.  7.5 x 8.1 x .4 cm.  The nakago hitsu-ana is.9 x 2.6 cm.  Arikawa School according to the former owner: we have 2 sages, one with a bull, and ample vegetation worked in gold, silver, copper, and shakudo.  On the reverse we have more plants with a waterfall.  The rim wasn’t hammered shut, which leaves very noticeable evidence of folding: nice touch.  Unfortunately, the patina is shallower than I would like; a few years on a window sill in a smoggy city might help.  Otherwise condition is excellent; none of the inlay is shmushed or missing.  $200.
