C272.  Yamagane tsuba of Mt. Fuji.  6.8 x 7 x .3 cm.  The nakago hitsu-ana is .7 x 2.8 cm.  This is an etched surface and the work is very similar to pieces that have been attributed to one or another generation of Kanshiro Nishigaki.  The 2 holes next to the nakago ana (saya dome ana) are put through at an angle, something else I’ve seen on Higo work.  There are more than a few dents and sword cuts on the rim; wonder what the story behind them is.  Otherwise condition is excellent; nice piece.  $325.
